The mission of Shreve Island Elementary is to build and nurture a community of leaders who respect differences, value academics, and strive for personal excellence.

Welcome

Shreve Island be could described as "Shreveport's Neighborhood School". This is because, in addition to those living in our attendance zone, hundreds of families from all over Shreveport choose to bring their children to Shreve Island for a unique educational experience.  We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of diverse learners in a family-like atmosphere. True to our mission, we aim to provide a nurturing environment that brings out the best in every child. We are a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence as well as a Franklin-Covey Lighthouse School.

A Year-Round Education

Shreve Island is the only school in Caddo Parish to follow a year-round calendar.  We attend the same number of days as other schools but with more breaks and enrichment opportunities spread through the year.  We find this calendar keeps students and teachers fresh and energized during the year and also reduces the effects of summer learning loss. Parents also enjoy planning vacations during Fall and Spring Intersessions when the weather is more enjoyable and destinations less crowded.

Every Child Can Be a Leader at SIE

Shreve Island is accredited as a Franklin-Covey Lighthouse School.  We utilize the Leader-in-Me curriculum to inspire and develop leadership qualities in every child. These qualities are based on the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. High academic standards and leadership skills have been, and will continue to be, a priority of Shreve Island Elementary School.

It Takes a Village

We understand that a bright and prosperous future for Shreveport-Bossier depends on providing ALL of our children with a 21st century education that addresses the whole child.  At SIE, we have been blessed with the incredible support of committed families and community partners to build and sustain quality programs. We agree that "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much" - Helen Keller
