Sandra Mack was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and she is the youngest of seven siblings. Ms. Mack earned her undergraduate degree in elementary education at Jackson State University in Mississippi. Afterwards, she received her Master's Degree in Administration and Supervision from Louisiana State University, Shreveport. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree, Ms. Mack began teaching in Caddo Parish. As a Walnut Hill teacher, she taught kindergarten for thirteen years and taught third grade for five years. Not only does she serve children in the public-school sector, but she has also served in children’s ministry for more than 15 years. Her favorite hobbies include baking goodies, photographing bridges, and spending time with family and friends. She is so delighted to be a part of such a wonderful student-centered and teacher-centered environment! Ms. Mack is thrilled about her new endeavor as the Principal at Shreve Island Elementary.

Mr. Dicharry, (formerly known as Coach D) is a proud graduate of LSU Baton Rouge and calls Bunkie, Louisiana his original hometown. He attended University of Louisiana at Lafayette for his teaching certification and completed his master's degree in Educational Leadership at Louisiana State University at Shreveport. Mr. Dicharry began his professional educational career at Lafayette High School where he taught special education and coached multiple sports for five years. Later, he moved to Shreveport and landed at Byrd High School, coaching football for 3 years. Mr. Dicharry served as P.E. teacher to Shreve Island for 10 years and helped establish many programs that are active today. He has also served as Assistant Principal at Youree Drive Middle School and Walnut Hill Elementary/Middle School. In addition to his professional career, Mr. Dicharry is a proud father of 3 children, two of which are Shreve Island alumni. He is married to Erin Dicharry.
Melody Jones, Instructional Coordinator, Grades PK-2
Melody Jones grew up in Bossier City and resides there now with her four-legged children, and loves being outdoors, gardening, cooking, and making pottery. She graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Elementary Education, specializing in early childhood. She also earned her Master’s degree in music education from U of H. After teaching in Texas and Pennsylvania, Ms. Jones came to Caddo to teach kindergarten at Forest Hill, became their reading interventionist, then moved to the district level to be the Lead Content Coach in ELA. Ms. Jones wanted to reconnect with students and be a part of Shreve Island, so jumped at the opportunity when it arose. She is thrilled to be part of such a positive community of leaders and learners.
